Barnyard Millet Sweet Pongal | Kuthiraivali sweet Pongal | சிறுதானிய சர்க்கரை பொங்கல்

Try this sweet Pongal with the goodness of millet.

Ingredients:(serves 4)
  • Barnyard millet - 3/4th cup
  • Moong Dhal - 1/4th cup
  • Jaggery - 1 cup + 3 tbsp
  • Water - 3 1/2 cup+ 1 cup
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • Cardamom - 5
  • Ghee - 2 tbsp
  • Cashew nuts- 10
  • Raisins - 8
Directions:
  1. Pressure cook millet and dhal with 3 1/2 cups of water for 3 to 4 whistles.
  2. Boil jaggery in 1 cup water and melt it.
  3. Strain the jaggery syrup and add it to the cooked millet dhal and cook it until it’s well combined.
  4. Powder cardamom pods with jaggery and add it to the millet Dhal cooked in jaggery.
  5. Do tempering using ghee, cashew nuts, and raisins and pour the tempering over the sweet Pongal.
  6. Sweet Pongal made with millet is ready to serve!!!
