Cauliflower Masala Dosa | Hotel style Cauliflower Masala Dosa


Try making this delicious cauliflower masala dosa for a special great dinner and serve it with chutney or sambar or both or as such !!!

Instead of having normal potato masala dosa which is    more in calories, try making this cauliflower masala dosa and get extra veggie added to your diet.

Ingredients :(Makes stuffing for 7 dosas)
Dosa Batter - 3 cups 

To steam:

  • Cauliflower - 2 1/2 cups or 1/2 medium size
  • Potato- 1 small ( for more taste) ( optional)

For Masala Paste:

  • Coconut- 1/4 cup
  • Cashew- 6 to 8
  • Fennel seeds - 1 tsp 

Other:

  • Oil - 2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Onion - 1 medium
  • Tomato- 1 large
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Chilli Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander Powder - 1 tsp
  • Garam Masala Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves- few
  • Coriander leaves - few 
  • Salt - As needed 

Directions:
Make cauliflower masala for stuffing:

  1. Put cauliflower florets in boiling water for 2 minutes to remove germs.
  2. Make smooth masala paste using 1/4 cup coconut, 6-8 cashews , fennel seeds and little water.
  3. Steam cauliflower florets with a small potato chopped and salt for 12 minutes.
  4. Heat pan, add oil, mustard seeds, allow mustard seeds to crackle. Add curry leaves.
  5. Add 1 medium onion and sauté until it’s transparent.
  6. Add 1 tsp ginger garlic paste and sauté.
  7. Add the spice powders: turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder , salt & sauté. 
  8. Add 1 large tomato cut into small pieces and sauté until it turns mushy.
  9. Add the grinded masala paste and sauté.
  10. Add the steamed cauliflower & potato and mix well.
  11. Cover the pan with a lid and cook in low flame for ~ 5 minutes until the cauliflower absorbs the masala well.
  12. Now open the lid and cook until the water is evaporated.
  13. Garnish with coriander leaves.

Make cauliflower masala dosa:

  1. Make sure the dosa batter is of correct consistency as shown in the video.
  2. Heat dosa pan and once hot, put thin dosa and pour oil or ghee on the top of dosa.
  3. Once the dosa starts to become crisp, keep the cauliflower masala stuffing inside the dosa and wrap it either length wise or triangular shape.
  4. Delicious cauliflower masala dosa is ready to be served with only chutney or sambar or both or as such !!!!
