Chettinad chicken curry is a very tasty chicken curry.
You can have this awesome chicken curry with ghee rice or chapathi or dosa or idli or even normal rice.

Now let us look into Chettinad chicken curry recipe.
Ingredients:
To pressure cook:
- Chicken- 600gm
- Turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp
- Water - 1 cup
- Salt
For the masala powder - to dry roast & grind
- Coriander seeds - 3 tbsp
- Whole pepper- 1 tsp
- Cinnamon- 1 inch
- Cloves - 6
- Cumin - 1 tsp
- Fennel seeds- 1 tsp
- Poppy seeds- 1 tsp
- Dry red chilli- 8 to 10
To roast in oil & grind:
- Oil - 2 tsp
- Small Onion- 10
Other:
- Oil - 2 tbsp
- Onion - 1(medium)
- Tomato- 2
- Ginger garlic paste- 2 tsp
- Thick coconut milk - 1 cup
- Salt - as needed
Directions:
- Dry roast the ingredients given to make masala powder , cool it down and grind it into powder.
- Sauté 10 small onions in oil, cool down & grind it into a paste.
- Pressure cook chicken for 2 whistles with salt & turmeric powder.
- Heat pan, add oil, curry leaves, thinly sliced 1 onion and sauté.
- Add ginger garlic paste and sauté.
- Add 2 tomatoes chopped and sauté.
- Add grinded onion paste and sauté.
- Add the masala powder and sauté.
- Add pressure cooked chicken, cover the pan with lid and cook for 5 minutes.
- Check for salt and add if needed.
- Add 1 cup thick coconut milk, cover the pan with lid and cook for 5 more minutes.
- Garnish with coriander leaves.
- Serve chettinad chicken curry with ghee rice or idli or dosa or chapati or normal rice.
