Try making this spicy and delicious garlic chutney for idli or dosa.
Ingredients:
To sauté in oil and grind:
- Gingelly oil - 1 tsp
- Urad dhal - 1 tsp
- Chana dhal- 1 tsp
- Kashmiri red chilli - 4
- Normal dry red chilli- 4
- Garlic- 15 large or 20 medium cloves
- Tomatoes- 2 medium
- Coconut- 1 tbsp
- Salt - As needed
To temper :
- Gingelly oil - 2 to 3 tbsp
- Mustard seeds
- Urad dhal
- Aseofetida- 1/8 tsp
- Dry red chilli- 2
- Curry leaves - few
Directions:
- Heat pan, add 1 tsp gingelly oil.
- Add 1 tsp urad dhal, 1 tsp chana dhal, 4 Kashmiri red chillies, 4 normal dry red chillies , 15 large or 20 medium garlic and sauté until garlic is slightly golden.
- Add 2 chopped tomatoes , 1/8th tsp turmeric and sauté until tomatoes become mushy.
- Cool this mix.
- Grind this mix with salt and little water.
- Do tempering with the ingredients given under ‘to temper’ and pour the tempering over the chutney.
- Serve this spicy and delicious garlic chutney with idli or dosa.
