Spicy Garlic Chutney for idli & dosa

 
Try making this spicy and delicious garlic chutney for idli or dosa.

Ingredients:
To sauté in oil and grind:

  • Gingelly oil - 1 tsp
  • Urad dhal - 1 tsp
  • Chana dhal- 1 tsp
  • Kashmiri red chilli - 4
  • Normal dry red chilli- 4
  • Garlic- 15 large or 20 medium cloves
  • Tomatoes- 2 medium 
  • Coconut- 1 tbsp
  • Salt - As needed 
To temper :

  • Gingelly oil - 2 to 3 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds 
  • Urad dhal 
  • Aseofetida- 1/8 tsp
  • Dry red chilli- 2
  • Curry leaves - few

Directions:

  1. Heat pan, add 1 tsp gingelly oil.
  2. Add 1 tsp urad dhal, 1 tsp chana dhal, 4 Kashmiri red chillies, 4 normal dry red chillies , 15 large or 20 medium garlic and sauté until garlic is slightly golden.
  3. Add 2 chopped tomatoes , 1/8th tsp turmeric and sauté until tomatoes become mushy.
  4. Cool this mix.
  5. Grind this mix with salt and little water. 
  6. Do tempering with the ingredients given under ‘to temper’ and pour the tempering over the chutney.
  7. Serve this spicy and delicious garlic chutney with idli or dosa.
