Kollu or kaanam thuvaiyal or Horse gram millet thuvaiyal


Kollu or kaanam thuvaiyal can be had with hot rice and gingelly oil and it tastes so yummy.
It can also be had as a side dish for porridge or rasam or dosa.

A best tasty weight loss recipe !!!
Ingredients (serves 3):

  • Kollu or kaanam or horse gram - 1/2 cup
  • Dry red chilli - 3
  • Garlic - 1 or 2 cloves
  • Coconut - 2 to 3 tbsp
  • Tamarind- 1 small piece 
  • Salt - As needed 
  • Water - 1/4 cup
Directions:

  1. Wash 1/2 cup kollu or Kaanam or horse gram and drain it.
  2. Heat a pan and add the horse gram and roast it in medium heat until nice aroma comes.
  3. Now add 3 dry red chillies and roast along with the horse gram slightly.
  4. Add 1 or 2 cloves garlic, 2 to 3 tbsp coconut , small piece tamarind and give a quick mix and turn off the stove.
  5. Let the roasted ingredients cool down.
  6. Add the roasted ingredients along with salt to a mixer and grind it. Horse gram or kollu powder ready!! 
  7. Add 1/4 cup more water and grind it until it reaches thuvaiyal consistency.
  8. Horsegram or kollu thuvaiyal ready!!!
  9. Serve with hot rice and gingelly oil!!
